Does anyone know if there is a way to get the fable III dlc to work if it's been purchased through steam

There is. But you need to sort of jack about with a couple of files first. Read my reply on "how to use scripts with DLC installed". That should be all the info you need. Sure, there may be steps I've forgotten but I think all the important stuff is there.
The key issues are getting catspaw's GFWL emulator 15d (which you can find here) and a modded dir.manifest (also here). Considering you've aleady said you got it on Steam, there's one issue out of the way already. The GFWL and DVD versions aren't a problem either but they do present their own problems (I have the retail DVD version 1.0) but people here are generally cool with helping out.
